Tourism can play a big role in reviving the economy hit by Covid-19. Centre, States must plan for post-covid tourism. Let's keep the hope alive.
We are all aware that the hit is massive. The whole tourism value chain across hotels, travel agents, tour operations, restaurants, family entertainment venues and transportation have been hit.
During 2019, Honorable Prime Minister of India had urged people to visit & promote domestic tourism. In January -November 2019, India saw 9.67 millions foreign tourist arrivals and sector earned INR 2.14 lakh crore in 2018 and provided jobs. In Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2019, India ranked 34th on world travel & 7th on Asia-Pacific. But now all those plans are now in disarray because with stringent travel restrictions in place and widespread fears keeping people indoor.
